Hilton Hotels (HLT) stock looks poised to resume a longer-term uptrend after a near 10% pullback from recent highs. The shares have potential support at $260, which is the site of its 12-month moving average and 13 times its initial public offering (IPO) price of $20 in 2013. The equity is also relying on shorter-term support from the 126-day moving average, with pullbacks to that region resulting in positive returns 80% of the time.

It’s also worth noting that the company will report quarterly results before the open Wednesday, Oct. 22. Shares have rallied in the weeks prior to the hospitality giant’s past four earnings reports. Short interest, meanwhile, hit a four-year high in July and would still take nearly five days to cover at the equity’s average pace of trading.
Plenty of analysts are lukewarm on Hilton Hotels stock. In fact, 12 of the 23 in coverage sport a “hold” or worse rating, even though the security is only a few weeks removed from record highs. Should any of these firms strike a bullish tone, the shares could surge even higher.
Our recommended November 250 call has a leverage ratio of 9.8 and will double on a 10% rise in the underlying equity.
